Remote work does not alter the employee`s employment relationship with the college, nor does it release an employee from the obligation to comply with all applicable college rules, policies and procedures. All existing terms and conditions of employment set out in the employee`s collective agreement and/or employment contract, including but not limited to the job description, salary, benefits, leave, sick leave and overtime pay, remain the same as if the employee worked exclusively on a college construction site. The Remote Work Agreement is an approved agreement between the college and an employee so that the employee can work remotely. The agreement specifies whether the remote working arrangement is valid on an ongoing basis or for a certain period of time. As a rule, the agreement will be in writing, unless the remote working arrangement is due to a critical situation. Any type of remote work requires prior management approval and is usually documented in a remote work agreement. Management decisions regarding remote work are made in a fair and equitable manner. Any request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis in accordance with this policy and applicable procedures, but decisions will be made at management`s sole discretion. Remote working arrangements provide employees with flexibility where possible and appropriate. However, changing needs and circumstances may require changes or termination of the Remote Work Agreement at the College`s sole discretion. Management is entitled to periodically review remote work agreements and modify or terminate a remote work agreement within a reasonable period of time, as set out in the remote work procedures and/or collective agreement or employment contract.
The purpose of this Directive and the procedures accompanying it is to facilitate, where appropriate, the implementation of remote working arrangements. The policy sets out the general expectations of the college, management and staff for remote work, including: We strive to provide our students, staff and external partners with a respectful, diverse, inclusive and equitable atmosphere. This policy applies to all college staff, including professors/instructors and non-academic staff; However, not all positions can be done remotely or are suitable for remote work in all situations. Requests for remote work will be reviewed by management in accordance with this policy and related procedures. This policy covers the typical conditions under which remote work is considered for a college employee. While remote work is a type of flexible work arrangement, this policy does not regulate other forms of flexible work arrangements such as flexible working hours, compressed work week, reduced work week or job sharing. “Workplace” means any place where an employee works for his or her employer. This also includes places where people work outdoors, at strangers` homes or at home. An approved remote workplace such as a home office is considered and is an extension of the workplace. “Collège construction site” means any building, site, mobile vehicle or other indoor or outdoor premises or place inhabited by the Order where one or more employees or self-employed workers work or have worked.
In the case of the faculty, any pre-existing authorization to perform certain administrative tasks related to a remote faculty role – e.g. B, conduct research for the development of courses or programs of study previously identified and agreed upon by management and the employee – will be deemed approved under this policy and does not require any further application or approval.
